Seminole County, Lake Mary, And Medical Marijuana
If you’re not yet a patient, we’ve already covered the basics for you on how to get a medical marijuana card in Lake Mary, as well as some of the qualifying conditions in a previous post.
To help key you into what’s going on in the news, we’re going to also highlight news stories centered around medical marijuana in the area:
Made effective July 1, 2019, a new Florida amendment was passed that makes hemp officially legal in the state. This new amendment also set in stone a definition of what constitutes legal hemp in the state.
Falling in line with federal regulations, this new amendment defines hemp as having a THC content of 0.3% or less. However, authorities in Seminole County are not able to easily test how much THC a sample contains.
These new testing burdens are expected to have a profound effect on the number of marijuana-related charges in the state, as officers are now tasked with weighing the severity of a case to justify the additional costs of testing cannabis samples. Some agencies have gone as far as to say they will not be making any more marijuana arrests due to the new law until new testing procedures are in place.
On the lighter side of things, what once was a Taco Bell is now Seminole County’s newest medical marijuana dispensary. Located at 1090 S, State Road 434 in Longwood, AltMed’s new medical marijuana treatment center was designed with patient comfort in mind, so there’s no need to feel intimidated about checking it out!
Complete with its own drive-thru, AltMed Florida’s Longwood dispensary also boasts call-ahead, as well as online, ordering to make shopping for legal cannabis products as convenient and easy as possible.
