How to Get a Medical Marijuana Card in Naples

Naples Marijuana Card

Although Collier county and Naples have been hesitant to embrace medical marijuana – going as far as barring the presence of medical marijuana treatment centers (or dispensaries) – that shouldn’t stop you from seeking relief from whatever qualifying condition ails you!

While you may not be able to stop into a Naples dispensary to pick up your legal cannabis, CannaMD’s convenient Naples location has you covered as far as getting a medical marijuana card is concerned. After that, you’re welcome to drive to a nearby dispensary or even order your medical cannabis products online and have them delivered!

The steps you need to take to get a medical marijuana card in Naples are pretty straight forward. After reading through today’s post, you should have all the information you need to successfully navigate the medical marijuana card approval process.

We’ll even point you in the right direction as far as where to go to buy legal medical marijuana!

MEDICAL MARIJUANA’S BUMPY ROAD IN NAPLES

Naples and Collier County have, up until this point, resisted the urge to dive in head first as other Florida counties have in embracing medical marijuana. While you can still use legal cannabis in Collier County, dispensaries are restricted from opening locations to sell cannabis products within county limits.

Hopefully, as Collier County officials learn more about the many advantages of easy access to medical marijuana for those who need it, things will change. For now, medical marijuana patients living in Naples will have to take advantage of home delivery services (now offered by many dispensaries) or make the drive to Bonita Springs or elsewhere to pick up their much-needed relief.

GETTING APPROVED FOR MEDICAL MARIJUANA IN NAPLES

Your first step to getting approved for medical marijuana in Naples is to make an appointment with a certified medical marijuana doctor. If you have an eligible condition, qualifying for a medical marijuana card in Naples is actually quite simple!

You can find our local Naples office at:

CannaMD

5660 Strand Ct

Naples, FL 34110

On the day of your appointment at CannaMD, you will meet with one of our certified physicians who will go over your symptoms and help you navigate the approval process. After our state-licensed doctors determine that you qualify for a medical marijuana card, a recommendation will be forwarded to the Florida Department of Health.

The Florida Department of Health will then email you instructions to visit their patient portal where you can sign up and apply for a registry identification card. (You’ll also have to pay the state-required $75 fee upon applying.)

It takes between one and three weeks to hear back, at which time you should receive your temporary medical marijuana card. Once you are approved, you can print out your temporary card and begin buying legal cannabis products that same day!

HOW TO QUALIFY FOR MEDICAL MARIJUANA IN NAPLES

Florida has two main requirements for those seeking a medical marijuana card:

First, you must be either a permanent or temporary resident of Florida. Second, you must be diagnosed with a condition that qualifies for medical marijuana, with the diagnosis being made by a certified medical marijuana doctor.

WHAT CONDITIONS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR MEDICAL MARIJUANA IN FLORIDA?

As outlined in Senate Bill 8A, if you have been diagnosed with any of the conditions below, you shouldn’t have any problem getting approved for medical marijuana in Naples:

This is by no means an exhaustive list, as Senate Bill 8A goes on to further state that any of the following may also qualify you for medical marijuana treatment:

  • Other “diagnosable, debilitating conditions of like, kind, or class” (such as anxietydepression, or migraines)
  • Terminal conditions (diagnosed by a doctor other than your medical marijuana doctor)
  • Chronic nonmalignant pain (defined as pain caused by a qualifying medical condition that persists beyond the usual course of that condition)

For more details, please see our Qualifying Conditions Resource Page.

HOW DO I PROVE FLORIDA RESIDENCY?

To avoid any hiccups in the approval process, you’ll need to supply a state-approved photo ID (such as a driver’s license or passport).

To meet the requirements of a “temporary” Florida state resident, you must:

  • Live in Florida for at least 31 consecutive days each calendar year
  • Maintain temporary residence in Florida
  • Return to your home state at least once a year
  • Be a registered U.S. voter or pay income tax in another state

For instructions on how to prove you’re a temporary resident, please see: Florida Snowbirds Can Use Medical Marijuana.

WHERE CAN I BUY MEDICAL MARIJUANA IN NAPLES?

Unfortunately, at this time, you cannot actually stop into a physical location and buy medical marijuana in Naples or Collier County. Luckily though, Bonita Springs has a few dispensaries available that are only a short drive away. A number of dispensaries also offer home delivery services to qualified patients!

Nearby Naples dispensaries can be found at the following locations:

Curaleaf

11721 Bonita Beach Road

Bonita Springs, FL 34135

Surterra

28520 Bonita Crossings Boulevard, Suite C

Bonita Springs, FL 34035

If these locations aren’t convenient for you, please see our Dispensaries Page for alternative options.
