Florida Medical Marijuana User Registry MFA Changes

Beginning September 28, 2026, Florida’s Medical Marijuana Use Registry (MMUR) will require multifactor authentication (MFA) when users log in.

MFA simply means there will be one extra security step after entering your username and password. It helps confirm that the person logging in is really you. This new security step will appear when you access your MMUR account, not only when you renew your card. OMMU says patients will be able to verify their identity using either email or an authenticator app.

A recent MMUR email states,

FA implementation will increase the security of information contained within the MMUR by requiring a second form of verification from users when they log in. If a user’s password is ever compromised, the user’s account would not be accessible without confirming the second form of verification.

Before September 28, take a moment to make sure you can log into both your MMUR account and the email address connected to it.

Important: Scheduled MMUR Maintenance

The MMUR is scheduled for maintenance on Monday, September 28 at 10 p.m. Eastern. Patients should avoid logging into the Registry during this maintenance period. If you need to access your account that day, consider doing so before 10 p.m.

What You Need to Do

When you log into the MMUR after September 28:

  • Enter your usual MMUR username and password.
  • Choose how you want to verify your identity., either email or an authenticator app.
  • Follow the instructions on the screen.

Once your identity is confirmed, you can continue into your MMUR account.

What Is an Authenticator App?

An authenticator app is an app on your phone that helps confirm your identity when you log into an online account. If you choose this option, the MMUR will guide you through connecting your account to the app. Once it is connected, you may be asked to open the authenticator app when you log in and enter the temporary security code it provides. These codes change regularly, which helps add another layer of security to your account.

If you are not comfortable using smartphone apps, remember that email verification is also an option.

Email May Be the Easiest Option

For many patients, email may feel more familiar. Before the change takes effect, make sure:

  • You know which email address is connected to your MMUR account
  • You can still log into that email account
  • You know your MMUR username and password

If you choose email verification:

  • The MMUR will send a security code to the email address connected to your account.
  • Open your email and find the message from the MMUR.
  • Copy or write down the code.
  • Return to the MMUR login screen you already opened.
  • Enter the code where prompted.
  • Once the code is confirmed, you can continue into your account as usual.

If you are expecting an email from the MMUR and do not see it, check your spam or junk folder.

Pro Tip

Tired of trying to remember every password? For our more tech-savvy patients, a password manager can be a handy shortcut. It securely keeps your login information in one place, so you don’t have to remember every password each time you sign in. It is completely optional and is not required to access the MMUR.

What If I’m Not Good With Computers?

You do not need to be tech-savvy to use the new login process. Take it one screen at a time and read each instruction before continuing. If using an app feels confusing, the email option may be the simpler choice.

The most important thing is making sure you can access:

  • Your MMUR account
  • The email address connected to your account

What This Does Not Change

MFA only changes how you log into the Registry. It does not change your:

  • Medical marijuana card
  • Physician certification
  • Medical marijuana orders
  • Renewal dates
